Police confirm human remains found in Point Douglas

Winnipeg Police Service has confirmed that human remains were found near the Red River in the Point Douglas area on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

Police say that they received a report around 1:30 pm that the remains of a deceased person had been found. The identity of the deceased is not yet known but an autopsy is pending.

Officers spent much of Sunday searching the area between Annabella and Curtis Streets as well as along parts of Waterfront Drive. Officers from the Dive Unit were also seen searching along the banks of the Red River.

The Homicide Unit is continuing with the investigation and asks anyone with information or video surveillance footage that may help investigators to call (204) 986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-8477.
