In has become an annual event across Manitoba every holiday season. Police services across the province set up check stops to look for impaired drivers.
In Winnipeg the police service has just released the results of their second week in the campaign.
Over the one week period police stopped 1860 vehicles and administered 39 roadside breath tests. The tests found that 10 drivers 0ver the legal limit of .08. One of those tested were impaired by drugs.
Police also gave out four warnings that resulted in 72 hour driver’s license suspensions. 38 drivers also received traffic related Provincial Offence Notices.
WPS are reminding people to not drink and drive. Police say drivers should have a plan before they go out and have a designated driver or plan to take a cab or bus or use a service like Operation Red Nose.
