Police Chases end in Arrest

Randy Terrance Ryle, 28 has been arrested and faces 16 charges, including:

• Robbery with Firearm
• Theft under $5000
• Resist Arrest x 2
• Point Firearm x 3 
• Carry Concealed Weapon
• Use Firearm in the Commission of an Offence x 2
• Careless Use Firearm
• Unauthorized Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
• Unauthorized Possession of a Motor Vehicle
• Possess Firearm Contrary to Court Order x 2
• Drive Dangerous
• Flight from a Peace Officer
• Warrant of Arrest x 4

It all started Thursday evening around 6:15 when WPS got a call of a man with a gun in the Polo Park area. The suspect had been confronted by security at the mall when he brandished a hand gun.

The suspect fled on foot to a parking lot on Jack Blick Avenue, confronted the driver of a vehicle, forcing her from it and stealing her car.

WPS Tactical Support Team located the vehicle on Portage Avenue. They were involved in a short chase but were able to stop the car at Portage Avenue and Goulding Street.

An hour later police were involved in a second pursuit of the evening after a robbery suspect demanded cash from two employees in a business in the 100 block of St. Anne’s Rd.

Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle several times over the next hour but due to the high rate of speed and dangerous manner of driving were forced to abort the pursuits.

Police were able to bring down the suspect at 8:40pm in the area of St. Vital Mall.

Alexander Branislav JOVANOVICH, 31-years, has been charged with

• Robbery x 3
• Disguise with Intent
• Flight from Peace Officer
• Drive Dangerous
• Drive Disqualified
• Fail to Comply Probation Order

 The suspects in both incidents were detained in custody.
