Police charged man with arson in connection to Main Street fire

Winnipeg Police Service has arrested and charged a man in his 30s in connection to a fire in a mixed-use building on Main Street on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

According to police, officers who were on the scene controlling traffic in the area during the fire located a man suffering from smoke inhalation. He was taken to the hospital in unstable condition but later upgraded to stable.

The cause of a Main Street fire in a two-story mixed-use building was determined to be arson. A male in his 30s has been charged (Robb Mitchell | News 4)

As the investigation unfolded the male was identified as a suspect responsible for starting the blaze.

He has been charged for his alleged involvement with Arson with Disregard for Human Life and Arson Causing Damage to Property.

The suspect was detained in custody. Police have not released his name.
