Winnipeg Police have a 30-year-old male in custody after he threw a 20 lb propane tank through the rear window of a police cruiser car.

It happened on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, around 11:15 am in the 300 block of Redwood Avenue.

Police say they were in the area on an unrelated matter. An officer was sitting in the passenger seat when the man approached the vehicle carrying the BBQ propane tank. The suspect said nothing to the officer before hurling the object at the patrol unit.

Police say that Richard Lee Friesen appeared to be high on meth at the time of the incident. He has been charged with Assault Peace Officer and Mischief Under $5,000 for his alleged involvement.

The officer in the vehicle was not injured

Friesen was detained in custody.
