Winnipeg Police have three suspects behind bars after they committed a number of armed robberies in the city over the past ten days.
Police say that on August 21, 2018, a man walked into a convenience store in the first 100 block of Osborne Street with his face concealed. He pointed a gun at an employee and demanded money and cigarettes. After getting what he was after he fled the store.
Later that day the suspect and another male walked into a pharmacy in the 600 block of Elizabeth Road. Both men hid their identities as one of the suspects pointed a gun at an employee and threatened to kill them if they did not give them narcotics. Police say an undisclosed amount of drugs was given to the robbers.
As the men were putting the stolen items in their vehicle witnesses notice that a female was in the driver’s seat as the vehicle fled the area.
The next day, on August 22, 2018, police arrested a 21-year-old suspect on Laurel Bay.
On Wednesday, August 29, 2018, the second male suspect robbed the convenience store on Osborne Street once again. He produced a knife and demanded money and cigarettes before fleeing the store.
On Thursday, August 30, 2018, investigators tracked down the female suspect who had driven the vehicle in one of the robberies. She was arrested in the 100 block of Edmonton Street. Officers found a number of stolen items believed to have been taken during one of the robberies and a number of drugs including:
- 9 pills of Hydromorph-Contin
- 4 pills of Hydromorph
- 23 pills of Xanax
- 2 small dime-bags of methamphetamine
Members of the Tactical Support Team took down the third suspect, a 33-year-old male, later in the day as he crossed the Norwood Bridge. A number of items believed to be stolen during one of the armed robberies were on his person along with $1,475 in cash.
Investigators from the Major Crimes Unit have charged Kyle Kisik Schroeder-Bear, 21 for his alleged involvement with Armed Robbery using a Firearm, Disguise with Intent, Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
Jessica Sadowiak, 34 has been charged for her alleged involvement with Armed Robbery using a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Possession of Scheduled Substance – Hydromorphone, Possession of Scheduled Substance – Methamphetamine, Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x5)
Christopher Paul Simard, 33, has been charged for his alleged involvement with Armed Robbery using a Firearm (x2), Robbery, Disguise with Intent (x2), Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence (x2), Pointing a Firearm (x3), Possession of a Weapon (x2), Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (x2), Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle, Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
All three suspects were detained in custody.
