The last half of January has been busy for emergency crews as they have responded to a number of stabbings in the downtown area of the city. In each case the victims were stabbed by a lone male suspect not known to the them.
The male suspect would confront the victims on the street and stab them in the upper body. In two incidents he also robbed the victim of their phone.
According to police records the incidents took place as follows:
January 13th – 5:30 pm – 100 block of Princess Street – 20 year old male victim stabbed in the upper body & robbed of his phone.
January 18th – 2:30 pm – King Street & Rupert Avenue – 61 year old male victim stabbed in the upper body.
January 27th – 5:30 pm – 300 block of Donald Street – 28 year old male victim stabbed in the upper body & robbed of his phone.
January 30th – 6:30 pm – 300 block of Princess Street – 68 year old male & 56 year old male victims stabbed in upper body.
January 30th – 9:30 pm – 1st 100 block of Princess Street – 61 year old male stabbed upper body.
All six of the victims were taken to hospital and treated for their injuries. They are expected to recover.
Police investigators identified a suspect and placed him under arrest late Monday night.
Jesse Neil NEDOHIN, 21 from Winnipeg has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
- Aggravated Assault x 4
- Possession of a Weapon x 5
- Robbery x 2
- Uttering Threats
- 14 additional charges in relation breaching his probation and failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance
NEDOHIN was remanded into custody.
