Bomb Unit removes and destroys package

Winnipeg’s Bomb Disposal Unit was called to the scene of a suspicious package behind a hotel on Century Street on Monday. It happened around 3:30pm March 27, 2017 causing police to close off and evacuate the area for several hours.

Police used a robot to approach the object. Around 7:45 pm a large bang could be heard as officers neutralized the package.

Upon investigation it was determined that the package did not contain any explosive materials.

Investigators are continuing to look into the incident.
