Winnipeg Police have arrested a 42-year-old-woman in connection to an assault of an elderly woman on Portage Avenue on May 15, 2021.
Police say that the victim, a female in her 90s, was at Portage Avenue and Vaughn Street around 4:30 pm when the accused approached and attempted to steal her walker. The victim was injured after falling to the ground.
Bystanders came to the aid of the victim as the assailant fled the area without the walker.
On Wednesday afternoon, May 26, 2021 police cadets were patrolling alone Portage Avenue when they noticed the female believed to be responsible for the attack on the senior.
Amanda Lynn Castel from Winnipeg has been charged for her alleged involvement with Aggravated Assault. She was detained in custody.
