Police arrest two suspects in unrelated stabbing incidents

Manitoba First Nations Police Service have arrested two suspects in connection to two different and unrelated stabbings this past weekend.

Sandy Bay

Officers in Sandy Bay First Nation arrested a 28-year-old male from the community after being called to a home in the early morning hours of February 27, 2021.

When officers arrived they found the suspect in possession of a knife. He was disarmed and arrested.

Four people had been stabbed during a fight in the home including a 26-year-old male who suffered stab wound to his head. That victim was airlifted by Stars Air Ambulance to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. He was later reported to be in stable condition.

The three other victims were treated for non-life threatening injuries in hospital.

The suspect was charged with Assault with a Weapon and released.

Roseau River

In the second stabbing incident officers in Roseau River First Nation were called to a home around 8:20 pm on February 27. Officers found a 32-year-old male lying on the ground in front of a home with a knife sticking out of his back.

Paramedics transported the victim to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. The male underwent surgery and is now in stable condition.

Officers located a 35-year-old suspect and placed him in custody.

Roy Seenie from the RM of Rhineland has been charged for his alleged involvement with Aggravated Assault and Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

Seenie was detained in custody.
