Two 18-year-old men have been detained in custody and charged in connection to 132 thefts from Manitoba Liquor Marts in Winnipeg.
Police say that Matthew James Swampy was involved in 52 thefts. He would enter a Liquor store, select several bottles of alcohol and exit the store without attempting to pay.
The thefts occurred between February 14, 2018, and August 20, 2018.
The second suspect, David Norman Lee Ross was arrested and charged with 80 thefts. He also would walk into a store, take some bottles off the shelf and then walk out without attempting to pay.
Police say Ross was responsible for thefts between March 19 and September 7, 2018.
Police have not said if the two men knew each other.
Several staff members at Manitoba Liquor Marts in Winnipeg told News 4 this kind of theft happens often and that they are not allowed to intervene when people enter the store and steal items.
