A 41-year-old male is in custody after robbing two Pembina Highway businesses then threatening two other people at a nearby gas station and adjacent parking lot.
Police say they were called to the 1100 block of Pembina on Sunday, February 2, 2020, around 3:35 pm after a male walked into a restaurant armed with a pipe wrench. The accused was holding in a way to appear to be a firearm. The suspect made off with $300 in cash.
Minutes later he went into another business in the vicinity and again pretended to have a firearm by wrapping the pipe wrench in a cloth. He demanded money and threatened to shoot the employee. He made off with less than $100.
The third stop in the robbery spree was to a gas station where he threatened to shoot an employee and demanded the employee call him a cab. The suspect then left and confronted a person in the parking lot of another business.
Police say that with the help of several bystanders the suspect was located at Pembina Highway and Jubillee Avenue and arrested.
Darrell Walter Longclaws from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with Assault with a Weapon, Fail to Comply with Probation Order, Possession of Weapon, Robbery X2, Use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence X3 and Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
He was detained in custody.
