Winnipeg police have arrested a 17-year-old male in connection to the May 6, 2022, murder of 31-year-old Richard Contois on the Slaw Rebchuk Bridge.
Contois was found by police near the sidewalk of the bridge just south of Dufferin Avenue around 10:30 pm. He was suffering serious injuries and was taken to hospital in critical condition where he soon died.
Police say that Contois’s injuries involved and edged weapon.
The 17-year-old accused has been charged for his alleged involvement with Second Degree Murder, Two counts of Fail to Comply with Sentence and Possess Weapon.
The teen was also charged in connection to a February 2, 2022, assault on Charles Street that sent two adults to hospital in critical condition. In this case he was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Break and Enter Commit Assault, Possess Weapon and two counts of Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking.
The accused was detained in custody.
