Police arrest suspect in bus shelter collision that seriously injured a male last fall

Winnipeg Police have arrested a 21-year-old male after he was involved in a collision with a bus shelter in October of 2016 that seriously injured a 63-year-old man.

The incident happened just after 10:30 pm on October 25th. The victim was waiting in a bus shelter at Pembina Highway and Southpark Drive when it was struck by a stolen vehicle.

Investigators were able to identify a suspect and on August 10, 2017, they arrested and charged Billy Boy Young from Winnipeg for his alleged involvement.

Young now faces the following charges:
   

  • Cause Bodily harm by Criminal Negligence
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Mischief Over $5000
  • Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Involving Bodily Harm
  • Possess Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 x2
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • And a number of HTA offences.

 
Young was detained in custody.
