Victim heard screaming he had been shot

As News 4 told you on Saturday night, August 12, 2017, Police responded to the scene of a shooting in the area of Boyd Avenue and Parr Street. 

Witnesses say that the 32-year-old male victim was screaming that he had been shot. 

As officers arrived they found the man suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition but later upgraded to stable. Although serious his injuries are not considered life threatening.

On Sunday, August 13, 2017, police patrolling in the downtown area of the city came across a 32-year-old male on an unrelated matter but soon learned he was the suspect in the Boyd shooting. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault as well as several firearms related offences.

The suspect was detained in custody.
