Winnipeg police have a 30-year-old female in custody after she tried to evade officers in a stolen vehicle.

On Thursday evening, December 1, 2022, police saw a stolen Audi A5 Quattro being driven in the North End and attempted a traffic stop at Prichard Avenue and McGregor Street.

The driver rammed the officer’s cruiser and then fled the area. Shortly afterwards the suspect was involved in a collision at Main Street and Cathedral Avenue where she abandoned the vehicle and took off on foot. The driver of the other vehicle suffered upper-body injuries and was taken to the hospital, treated and released.

Ground officers with help from air1 located the suspect hiding in the back lane of Bannerman and Main Street. Police recovered a large knife at the scene of the collision and found a matching sheath on the suspect when she was taken into custody.

Investigators were also able to link the suspect to an aggravated assault on November 6. She had allegedly gone to a home in the 700 block of Pacific Avenue and threatened to kill a 55-year-old male who she knew, then discharged a firearm through the door. The male was taken to the hospital with lower-body injuries.

Police say Audi had been stolen earlier in the day from the 600 block of King Edward Street.

– Pointing a Firearm
– Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
– Uttering Threats (Cause Death or Bodily Harm)
