Police arrest one of two suspects in Anthony Sinclair murder

Winnipeg police arrested one of two suspects in the murder of Anthony Sinclair on December 9, 2021, after a 12 hour stand-off.

According to police officers surrounded a home in the 400 block of Anderson Avenue on Monday afternoon, January 10, 2022 after learning that Alex Genaille was inside and may be armed and dangerous.

Over the next 12 hours officers from the Tactical Support Unit used a number of methods in an attempt to take the suspect into custody. At approximately 2:30 am police went inside the home and located Genaille who was attempting to hide from officers. He was placed in custody. Police say he was in possession of two firearms at the time of his arrest.

Genaille was charged for his alleged involvement with Second Degree Murder. He was detained in custody.

The second person who has been identified as a suspect in the killing is still wanted by police. 22-year-old Thunder Lightening Fontaine is also wanted on Second Degree Murder charges.
