Manitoba First Nations Police have arrested and charged a 28-year-old male in connection to drug trafficking on Sunday, March 14, 2021.
Police say that they were conducting a traffic stop on Long Plain First Nation after spotting a vehicle without license plates. As officers approached the vehicle they smelt a strong odor of cannabis coming inside the vehicle. Officers also spotted drug paraphernalia on the front passenger seat.
The driver was the only person in the vehicle and was taken into custody. A search of the suspect uncovered pills, jewelry and a a large amount of cash.
MFNPS K-9 unit searched the vehicle and found a lane amount of cannabis, 24.22 grams of what police believe is crack cocaineand nearly $20,000 in Canadian currency.
Kashtin Peters from Long Plan First Nation has been charged for his alleged involvement with Possession for the purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Canabis for the purpose of selling and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000.
Peters was detained in custody.
