Winnipeg Police have a 47-year-old male in custody who was wanted on an arrest warrant.
On Monday, April 4, 2022 officers spotted the male riding a bicycle near Salter Street and Church Avenue. The officers knew the male was the subject of an arrest warrant and stopped him. When he was told he was under arrest he dropped the bike and attempted to flee on foot.
An officer gave chase and caught the suspect who put up a violent resistance. The second officer soon arrived and were able to get the suspect into cuffs. During the ordeal the suspect repeatedly attempted to reach into his jacket.
After the arrest a search uncovered a loaded 22. calibre saw-off rifle, ammunition, fentanyl, methamphetamine and two knives.
Richard Charles McIvor was the subject of a court-ordered weapons and firearms prohibition. He was charged with 19 offences for his alleged involvement including 10 Firearms and Weapons related offences, two counts of Assault Peace Officer, five counts of Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release Order, Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl) and Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine)
