Police arrest 26-year-old male in connection to Woodhaven break-ins

Winnipeg police have a 26-year-old male in custody after he allegedly was involved in multiple break-ins in the Woodhaven area of the city on Friday, May 28, 2021.

Police say that Joseph Henry Grant entered a residence of an 89-year-old female just before 2:30 pm and stole her phone before leaving.

Minutes later Grant allegedly kicked open a screen window to a sunroom before attempting to pull open a locked door. The 19-year-old female resident in the home at the time of the attempted break-in hid and called 911 for help.

The suspect then went to the home of a 37-year-old female and her 9-year-old daughter. He walked through the front door and yelled. The daughter confronted him.

The suspect then went into another home and stole a set of binoculars and some electronics.

A Winnipeg Police Service bicycle patrol unit were nearby and were able to take the suspect into custody as he tried to flee the home by jumping out of a second-storey window.

Grant was charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of Break Enter and Theft – Delling House, two counts of Break & Enter with Intent – Dwelling House and Fail to Comply Condition of Release Order.
