Ness avenue was closed to traffic in both directions around Mooregate Street while firefighters used a ladder truck to extinguish the flames on top of the utility pole.

Crews had the flames extinguished quickly.

The blaze knocked out power to hydro customers in the area. Manitoba Hydro says that two other pole fires also knocked out power to areas of the city.
