Winnipeg Police have a suspect in custody after he pointed a gun at several people in the early evening on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.
Police say that the suspect was seen pointing a weapon at a male on Cumberland Avenue when a bystander intervened by yelling at the suspect to stop. This caused the suspect to confront the male bystander and place a gun to his head and threaten him. Police were called after the suspect took off.
Three more people were confronted by the suspect in a parkade a short time later. The suspect pointed the gun at them while they were in a vehicle. No one was injured and the suspect left.
Officers located the suspect as he was leaving the parkade and disarmed him. While he was arrested he threatened to kill both officers. Police also found a machete concealed in the suspect’s jacket.
33-year-old Kyle Joseph Houle has been charged with a number of offences for his alleged involvement including: Three counts of Point Firearm, Three counts of Utter Threats, Possess Weapon, Carry Concealed Weapon, Possess Identity Document
Houle remains in custody.
