Emergency crews were called to a one-and-a-half-storey triplex around 8:15 this morning, December 14, 2021, in the 100 block of Stephens Street in Point Douglasz

As firefighters arrived on the scene heavy smoke and flames were seen coming from the structure and an offensive attack was launched. As conditions inside worsened crews transitioned to a defensive attack fighting the blaze from outside. Once conditions improved firefighters transitioned once again to an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 8:59 am.

One occupant was able to self-evacuate prior to firefighters arriving own scene. No injuries were reported.

The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services unit were called to help residents find alternate accommodations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation
