The City of Winnipeg has announced that crews will begin plowing major streets, sidewalks, and pathways starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025. As part of the city’s winter road operations, the plowing schedule is based on the street priority system to ensure efficient snow removal across the city’s most-traveled routes.
Motorists are advised to drive according to road conditions and exercise extreme caution when near heavy equipment to ensure their safety and that of the plow operators.
City officials say that the annual winter route parking ban is currently in effect. Parking is prohibited on designated winter routes between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. to facilitate snow removal operations. Vehicles parked in violation of this ban may be ticketed and towed to the towing company’s compound.
Winter routes are clearly indicated with signage throughout the city. Residents can identify these routes by downloading the Know Your Zone mobile app, using the interactive snow map, or contacting 311 for assistance.
