On July 21, 2024, at approximately 1:10 pm, the Gimli RCMP responded to a plane crash in a treed area south of the intersection of Highway 68 and Highway 233 in the RM of Bifrost.
The incident involved a crop dusting plane that was spraying a field when one of its wings struck a tree, causing the aircraft to crash. The pilot and lone occupant, a 33-year-old male from the RM of Bifrost, sustained minor injuries and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified and will be conducting an investigation into the crash.
Authorities are grateful that the pilot’s injuries were not severe and are working to determine the exact cause of the accident.
