Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a fire on Pembina Highway over the noon hour on Friday, March 27, 2020.
Crews arrived to the 9-storey building just before 12:15 pm and encountered smoke coming from the building. A second alarm was called do to the additional hazards that can occur when dealing with a fire in a high-rise building. The second alarm brings additional equipment and firefighters to the scene.
The blaze was brought under control by 12:35 pm and was mostly limited to the suite where the fire originated. The building suffered minor smoke damage.
Residents were able to return to the building once firefighters completed their work.
One person was assessed on scene by paramedics but did not have to be taken to hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
