15-year-old Steinbach teen facing weapons charges after pellet gun brought to school

A 15-year-old Steinbach teen is facing several charges after he allegedly brought a pellet gun to Steinbach Regional Secondary School and threatened another student with it.

RCMP say the incident happened around 2:50 pm on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 and caused the school to go on lockdown as officers searched the building. Officers determined that the youth had left the school.

As the investigation continued officers were able to locate the suspect outside a residence nearby on McKenzie Avenue and place him under arrest.

The accused is charged with Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon x 2, Uttering Threats and Assault.

Police have yet to recover the pellet gun but the investigation continues.
