A 25-year-old woman is recovering in hospital after being struck by a large white cargo van in a hit-and-run incident early Friday morning.
The Winnipeg Police Service responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Osborne Street and Mulvey Avenue East around 12:30 a.m. on March 15th. Upon arrival, officers found the woman suffering from serious injuries.
According to police, the victim attempted to cross Mulvey Avenue East in front of a stopped westbound van when she was struck by the involved vehicle. The impact knocked her to the ground, causing extensive injuries. The striking vehicle’s driver fled the scene, continuing northbound on Osborne Street.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) personnel provided emergency medical care at the scene before transporting the woman to hospital in stable condition.
The vehicle involved is a large, white cargo-style van. A concerned citizen who discovered the injured woman in the roadway called emergency services.
The Winnipeg Police Service Traffic Division is actively investigating the incident and appealing to the public for assistance. They urge the driver of the van to come forward and contact them directly at 204-986-7085.
