Pedestrian killed while walking on Highway 8 early Sunday morning

A 22-year-old man has died after he was struck by a vehicle on Highway 8 just north of Provincial Road 67 in the RM of St. Andrews.

The collision happened around 2:15 am on Sunday, October 1, 2017.

Police say the man was walking northbound on the highway wearing dark clothing when he was hit by a northbound vehicle. The man died at the scene.

The 47-year-old male driver, a 44-year-old female passenger and a 3-year-old female passenger were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say that alcohol and speed were not factors in the collision and no charges have been laid.

Police had the northbound lanes of Highway 8 closed for several hours as they investigated the incident but it has since reopened.
