Just before 11:30 pm on Wednesday May15, 2019, police were called to a hit and run in the 1500 block of Portage Avenue between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Police say the pedestrian, a female in her 30s, was hit by an eastbound vehicle after stepping off the curb onto the roadway. She sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital in critical condition. She has since been upgraded to stable condition. The vehicle left the scene before police arrived.

Around 1:10 am on May 16, 2019 an adult male flagged down officers in a patrol unit near police headquarters and turned himself in. He was arrested but police have not released any details about the driver.

The vehicle believed to have been involved was located in the Fairfield Park area.
