52-year-old Eric John Lecoy is in custody after he allegedly attempted to rob a Notre Dame Avenue restaurant on Thursday night, April 25, 2019.

Police say that just after 9:00 pm they responded to lounge area of the restaurant. When they arrived several patrons had the suspect already in custody.

The suspect had apparently walked into the establishment, approached the counter and pulled out what appeared to be a gun then pointed it at the employee. He demanded money.

Several patron approached the suspect from behind and were able to disarm him.

The weapon turned out to be an improvised firing device. A search of the suspect also uncovered a knife and ammunition.

Lecoy is facing a number of robbery and weapons related offences.
