Parking Patrol officer assaulted in Richmond West

Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 30-year-old Winnipeg man after he assaulted a Winnipeg Parking Authority officer.

It happened around 3:30 pm on Sunday, August 12, 2018, on De Vos Road in the Richmond West neighbourhood in Winnipeg’s south end.

According to investigators the suspect stopped his vehicle in the path of the patrol officer then opened his door and began yelling at the officer. The suspect then moved towards the officer and assaulted him. As the victim tried to call for help the accused grabbed the cord on the radio pulling it out of the microphone.

The man then drove away.

Police located the suspect at a home in the 200 block of Fairhaven Road and place him under arrest.

He has been charged with Assault Peace Officer, Mischief Under $5,000. He was also issued Highway Traffic Act tickets for Drive to Impede Traffic and Drive Imprudently.

He was released on a promise to appear in court.

On August 12, 2018, the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of an assault of a Winnipeg Parking Authority employee.
