City institutes a declared snow route parking ban ahead of winter storm

On Friday, March 2, 2018, just two days after the annual snow route parking ban ended the City of Winnipeg has declared a new snow route parking ban effective Sunday night into Monday morning until further notice.

A declared snow route parking ban means that there is no parking permitted between 12:00 am and 7:00 am on designated snow routes.

The city says that fines for violating the ban are upwards of $100 but your vehicle may also be towed to a holding compound and subject to additional fees.

A Colorado Low is expected to hit the city Sunday with heavy accumulations of blowing snow. Up to 30 cm is expected across Southern Manitoba before the storm peters out on Tuesday.

According to Environment Canada periods of poor visibilities in blowing snow will also affect travel Monday and Tuesday and prolonged blizzard conditions may occur in parts of Southern Manitoba.
