Winnipeg based Palliser Furniture announced on Monday March 30, 2020 that they will be laying off 72% of its workforce for a period of two weeks as it temporarily shuts down its plants in Winnipeg and Mexico and other related operations in China and Indonesia.
Approximately 3,000 people are employed by Palliser with nearly 700 of those based in Winnipeg.
The layoffs come as sales in the retail sector plunge during the Covid-19 pandemic.
