Three overnight fires keep crews busy

Three overnight fires kept members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service busy.

Dufferin Avenue

Just before 1:30 am crews responded to multiple vehicles on fire behind a Dufferin Avenue business. Crews quickly doused the flames. No injuries were reported and fire investigators are looking into the cause.

William Avenue

Around 3:00 am fire crews were called on once again this time to a two-storey multi-residential house in the 400 block of William Avenue. Heavy black smoke was seen coming from the front door of the structure as firefighters arrived on scene. Crews made an offensive attack and had the fire under control in just over an hour.

People inside the building were able to get out on their own. A search of the building found no other occupants inside even though initial reports indicated two people were unaccounted for.

The house suffered significant damage from fire, smoke and water. The cause of the blaze in under investigation.

A second home next to the fire suffered minor exterior damage.

Prichard Avenue

Crews responded next to a garage fire in the 1000 block of Prichard Avenue. As firefighters arrived on scene they found three garages up in flames and well-involved.

The blazes were knocked down quickly.

There were no reports of injuries and the cause of the firesafe under investigation.
