Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service has issued an open-air fire ban effective at 6:00 pm on Wednesday July 14, 2021 and will continue until 6;00 pm on July 28, due to dry conditions.
Under the ban residents are not permitted to have open fires, fires in backyard fire pits, set off fireworks, have fires in pits at city parks or use solid fuel-burning appliances, including charcoal and wood-burning barbecues.
WFPS says that propane and gas barbecues and fire tables are permitted but should be used with caution.
Existing permits are suspended and no new permits will be issued during the ban. Violations of the ban are subject to a $500 fine.
