School division cancels classes after online threats made

Threats made online Sunday evening prompted the cancellation of classes across all schools in the Lord Selkirk School Division on Monday, December 3, 2018.

RCMP in Selkirk arrested an 18-year-old male after they were made aware of a social media post that contained several violent threats on Sunday evening.

A few hours later more threats emerged online and RCMP quickly identified and arrested and 18-year-old female and a 16-year-old male.

All three suspects have been charged with uttering threats and remain in custody.

The school division says that the schools were closed across the division for safety reasons while the RCMP continue to investigate.

It is not known if any of the accused are students within the division.

RCMP say that they are not looking for any other suspects but that the investigation is continuing.
