Online hookup turns into assault after using popular dating website

 

 

Police warn to use caution when meeting someone you don’t know

 

 

 

 

 

Winnipeg Police say that another male has been assaulted after he met up with a woman he had met on a popular online dating website.

The man and woman arranged to meet up just after midnight on August 14, 2017, at a home in the first 100 block of Tyndall Avenue.

When the man arrived the woman invited him into the home where several people unknown to him were waiting inside. They assaulted and robbed the male victim. The man was able to escape but his assailants followed and attacked him again around Burrows Avenue. and Tyndall.

The victim suffered minor injuries but he was able to once again escape and then called police

Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident and are asking anyone who may have information that could help them to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477)
