Teen facing firearm charges after male shot

Winnipeg Police have arrested a 15-year-old male after it is alleged he shot at five teens injuring one of them.

On Wednesday, May 22, 2019 police responded to the report of a gunshot in the 500 block of Langside Street. Officers located a vehicle that had been seen leaving the scene and discovered a 17-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The youth was taken to hospital in stable condition.

As officers were talking to the other occupants of the vehicle they noticed another male in the area. As police attempted to talk to the individual he fled. Officers placed him under arrest after he tripped and fell.

Back at the home on Langside police found evidence that a weapon had been fired.

Police say that five teens had been at the home attempting to buy drugs when a dispute arose. A gun was pointed at the teenagers and fired in their direction hitting the one male.

Police got a search warrant and searched the home locating a shotgun.

The male suspect is also believed to have sprayed several teenagers with bear spray in the central park area of Winnipeg on May 11, 2019.

The youth was detained in custody and faces several assault and weapons charges.

He was detained in custody.
