When crews arrived they found a fire with heavy smoke inside the building and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control within 30 minutes.

Residents and staff in the building were able to get out safely. One person was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital in stable condition.

Most residents were able to return to their suites once firefighters ensured it was safe to do so.
