Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a fire around 6:30 am Sunday morning, November 1, 2020, in a three-storey apartment building on Moncton Avenue.
When crews arrived on the scene they saw heavy smoke coming from a unit in the building. An offensive attack was launched.
The fire was declared under control at 7:04 am.
Firefighters searched the building and found one person inside. They were taken to hospital in critical condition. Crews also found a dog and cat who had both died.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
