Chief Provincial Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin said on Monday that Canadian medical experts now agree that wearing a non-medical mask, even if you have no symptoms, may provide additional protection to others.
“Those who wanted to use non-medical masks in public is an additional way to protect those around you by reducing the chances of droplet transmission,” said Roussin. ” It should be clear that wearing these masks is very unlikely to protect the individual who is wearing the mask it’s more to protect the people around them.”
Roussin went on to reiterate that the best way to protect yourself from contracting the virus is to stay home. If you have to go out practice social distancing at all times.
