One man injured in attack on Winnipeg Transit bus

An 18-year-old male is facing charges after he was involved in an altercation on a Winnipeg Transit bus on December 27, 2022.

The incident happened around 8:00 pm near St. Anne’s Road and Niakwa Road. Police say that several people on the bus were causing a disturbance when a 34-year-old male intervened. one of the suspects assaulted the male and a fight broke out. A second suspect then pulled out a machete and hit the victim in the upper body. The victim disarmed the suspect with help from another passenger and threw the weapon off the bus. The assailant with the machete was assisted off the bus and took off before police arrived.

The victim was treated by paramedics on the bus and did not need hospitalization.

Police found an 18-year-old male suspect a short distance away in the 100 block of Alpine Road and placed him under arrest. He was charged for his alleged involvement with Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon.

He was released on an undertaking
