Winnipeg Police Cadets and members of Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service were working in the area of Martha Street when they were called over by bystanders to help a man who had been brutally assaulted.
It happened Monday, June 19, 2017 just after 11:00 pm. The victim was treated at the scene and taken to hospital in critical condition.
The 37 year old male had suffered severe head trauma and remains in critical condition according to police.
Witnesses identified the suspect and a short time later WPS Cadets found the him in the area.
Charged with Aggravated Assault for his alleged involvement is 43 year old Sydney Eric Norman Fleury.
He remains in custody.
