One person is dead and two others injured after a vehicle crashed into a tree following an attempted traffic stop early Monday morning, May 30, 2022.
According to police, officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Deer Lodge area around 12:45 am but the driver refused to stop and drove off. Police located the vehicle a short time later in the 400 block of Truro Street.
The three people in the vehicle were taken to hospital. The adult male driver and a teenage passenger were transported in unstable condition. An Adult female was transported in critical condition but did not survive her injuries.
Due to police involvement the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) was notified and has taken over responsibility for investigating the collision.
