One dead, two injured in Furby Street fire

An early morning fire on Saturday morning, June 17, 2023 claimed the life of an adult male.

Firefighters were called to a home in the 600 block of Furby Street at 5:08 am. Heavy smoke was coming from the structure when emergency crews arrived on the scene. Firefighters rescued one person from the home while two others were able to self-evacuate.

Paramedics treated three people at the scene and took them to hospital, one in critical condition and two in stable condition.

An exterior attack was launched until was safe for crews to enter the building. The fire was declared under control at 6:22 am. The house suffered significant damage.

Winnipeg Police say that the man transported to hospital in critical condition died from his injuries.

Members of the Homicide Unit are investigating.
