A single-engine aircraft crash has claimed the life of one man just outside of St. Andrews Airport. St Andrews is about 15 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
Police received word of the crash just after 4:30 am.
According to investigators the aircraft, a Beechcraft Musketeer, only had the pilot on board and had just departed on a flight to Ontario.
The victim was a 29-year-old male from Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Police say that the owner of the aircraft did not consent to the pilot taking the plane but that the owner did know the deceased.
RCMP did confirm that the victim was a licenced pilot.
