One dead, one injured in Toronto Street assault turned homicide

Winnipeg police are investigating a homicide after police were called to a Toronto Street home just before 2:00 am on Saturday, February 26, 2022.

Police say they were called to the residence for the report of an assault. Officers located an adult male with critical injuries. He was transported to hospital but died shortly afterwards.

A second person was also injured and taken to hospital. They are currently in stable condition.

Less than a block away officers were also investigating the shooting of a female in her 20s that happened 30 minutes prior. Police say that the two incidents are not related.

At the same time, just a few blocks east, at Ellice Avenue and Agnes Street officers arrested a male who was bleeding from the shoulder. Police were not able to provide any detail on the man’s arrest or if it was related to the homicide
