Female passenger dies after vehicle hits deer on Highway 5

One person is dead, another injured when the vehicle they were in hit a deer on Highway 5 near Neepawa.

Police say the collision happened just before 6:00 pm on Friday, December 6, 2019.

According to investigators a vehicle being driven by a 42-year-old male was travelling northbound on Highway 5, about one kilometre north of Neepawa when it hit a deer crossing the highway from the east.

The collision sent the dee into the southbound lanes where it was hit a second time by a southbound vehicle.

The 58-year-old driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital. The passenger, a 58-year-old female, died from the injuries she sustained.

RCMP continue to investigate.
