RCMP responded to fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 52.
Just before the noon hour today RCMP from Steinbach responded to a three vehicle collision on Highway 52 east of Steinbach.
A 19 year old male was driving southbound on 40E when he failed to stop at the intersection of Highway 52 and collided with a vehicle that was travelling westbound on Highway 52. The impact of the collision pushed the westbound vehicle into on-coming traffic where it collided with an eastbound pickup truck.
The 58 year old driver of the westbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was not injured. The 19 year old driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police cannot say if weather played a factor in the collision but did confirm that alcohol was not involved. The deceased driver was wearing his seatbelt.
The 19 year old male has been charged with Criminal Negligence Causing Death and is currently in police custody.
Police are continuing to investigate.
